“There is just one hope for repulsing the tyrannical ambition of civilization to conquer every inch on the whole earth. That hope is the organization of spirited people who will fight for the freedom and preservation of the wilderness.”

—Bob Marshall

Adjacent to Holland Lake Lodge is the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, which makes up an area of more than 1.5 million acres, a vast landscape of habitat for the Grizzly bear, lynx, wolverine, deer, elk, gray wolf, moose, black bear, mountain lion, mountain goat, and mountain sheep. The Bob Marshall Wilderness was named for Bob Marshall, the early wilderness advocate, explorer and conservationist who promoted the development of effective and meaningful wilderness management.

POWDR’s 13,000 square foot luxury accommodations on the pristine shores of Holland Lake has been issued the uncomplimentary name, “BOB MARSHALL LODGE”.

What does POWDR have to do with Holland Lake Lodge?

Christian Wohlfeil, owner and operator of Holland Lake Lodge for the past 20 years, has partnered up with POWDR to develop the public land into a mega-expansion, adventure tourism, luxury resort.

Excerpt from Montana Free Press article, September 12, 2022:

“Holland Lake Lodge runs on a special-use permit through the forest service and is a leaseholder of the land. Christian Wohlfeil has owned the 15-acre special-use permit that encompasses Holland Lake Lodge since 2002. He said he is the longest holder of the permit since the lodge was established in 1924. Wohlfeil said a lot of ski resorts use special-use permits, which allow them to operate privately owned businesses on public land with a requirement that they provide recreational opportunities to the public. Wohlfeil has partnered with Utah-based POWDR, owner of several ski resorts, and has already sold the company shares of the permit, anticipating a complete buyout. Wohlfeil said the permit had been for sale and two previous deals fell through before POWDR reached out to his real estate agent. Wohlfeil and the company have been collaborating since 2020.”
